Whitehall snipes at Prince Charles;’misguided green thinking’

Some nameless source within the British government has basically expressed the view that the lecture above is misguided, and that the solution to our problems will come from technology and commerce led by government rather than changing our values. I.e a solution that will make the rich even richer, the powerful even more powerful, and you and I even more dependant upon them and their gadgets just to survive.

 

The words of wisdom in the lecture above shine for what they are. Simple truth. It doesn’t matter that it was an unelected prince rather than an industrialist or politician that said them. It rather says it all that the idiots who govern our country and who are leading it to ruin cannot see that for themselves.

 

Yes technology can give us anything up to 50% greater energy efficiency per person, but then without attitude change we will double our population again and then what? Perhaps we can all live in pods within mega cities eating food derived from rocks and living for the moment when we have to put £1 in the meter that supplies us with breathable air.

 

Or we could do as the Prince of Wales suggests and I would suggest go even further. All the problems that we have are caused by there being far too many people. It is within our power to halt our population growth which is at the route of all our problems, and look to increase our quality of life in another way entirely.

 

It is not touchy feely princes or green hippies that are misguided if you listen to most environmental scientists, ecologists and climatologist's: It is idiots like our anonymous source in Whitehall who just wants us to continue on endlessly repeating the mistakes that will cause our downfall. Police get permission for ‘Pagan Police Association’

The daily mail published an article announcing with derision the news that Pagan Policemen and Women, of whom there are at least 500 serving officers in the UK, have been given consent by the Home Office to form a Pagan Police Association.

 

This would not be a huge or surprising story were it not for the blatant and transparent prejudice of the Daily Mail who gave two pages to the subject saying things like: (accompanied by a cartoon of a naked Policeman strangling a chicken):

 

“We've got a Black Police Association, a Gay Police Association, a Muslim Police Association and now - stop tittering at the back - a Pagan Police Association.”

 

“You can't miss him. He's the one with the horns on his helmet, seconded to the raping and pillaging squad.“

 

“the Mad Mullah of the Traffic Taliban would soon have warlocks hiding behind bushes, turning motorists into pumpkins”

“We'll have defendants claiming in court that they only confessed because the investigating detective threatened to turn them into a frog. How long before some officer decides it is his inalienable human rite to wear a goat's head on duty?”

Why should anyone be tittering, and if they are, doesn’t this fully justify the need for such an association in the first place to educate colleagues and provide a support group for pagan police personnel? The daily mail enforces the sterio-type of naked ceremony, blood sacrifice, rape and pillage, curses changing people into frogs.

 

They went on to conduct a poll among their readers to see if these agreed with them however look at how they weighted the question:

 

“Should the police be allowed to have a Pagan Police association or should all Police be equal?”

 

72% chose the second option, no doubt unaware that other religious as ethnic groups already have associations and to exclude the pagan officers from the same would provide the inequality.

It is a fact that there are now thought to be over 250000 pagans in the UK. Many of these are still so fearful of prejudice and ridicule that they leave the census form blank in the box to declare religion. Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, Police, Soldiers, IT Professionals, Craftsmen, Musicians and teachers, pagans are working in responsible jobs throughout our society and yet still we are plagued by the ignorant who taint us with the lies told about us by the Medieval Church and fantasies of Holywood.

Over the past century, hatred and fear of pagans, which led to them being legally tortured, sometimes raped and executed in successive ‘witch hunts and inquisitions’ has given way to more enlightened times, we are now openly ridiculed instead.

 

This is still unacceptable and I cannot be alone in being reminded of the way that the Nazi’s ridiculed the Jews prior to the second world war and the holocaust.

 

Was the hatred and fear of pagans ever justified?

 

No. The new testament was altered from ‘suffer not a poisoner to live’ to ‘suffer not a Witch to live’, and this was used as justification. Neither the Norse or Celtic traditions worship a devil, neither would they commune with or practise evil, we do not practise human or animal sacrifice and those few occultists who enter into such perversions are not European ‘Pagan’ but practising something else entirely.

 

European paganism has its roots in the stone age with a reverence for nature and the ancestors, believing in life after death and in the duty of each individual to be at all times courageous and honourable.

 

The Daily Mail is read and trusted by millions of people and can justly claim therefore to be one of the great newspapers, and I do not suggest otherwise, so why in this article have they let their standards slide by ridiculing ordinary decent police officers and perpetuating ignorance towards minority faiths?

The daily mail makes mention of holidays, specifically it seems outraged at the idea that pagan police might have time off for solstice or Halloween. Police operate a shift system, 24/7. No Christian officer with a family really wants to be working on Christmas day, but now that shift can be covered by one of the officers who follows another religion, this has to be good all round surely.

 

When you go to hospital do you question your doctor about his faith?

Why question the police?

 

The Police exist to enforce the law under which all are equal, and they keep our streets safe, defend the weak and the helpless often putting their own lives in danger to do so. Our society is no longer purely White and Christian and so Police need to understand other cultures and religions in order to police effectively. Especially they must not be ignorant of each others values and beliefs if they are to be an effective team in a world otherwise vulnerable to ignorance.
