Britain under snow
The village where I live is high on the Hampshire downs and like much of the south of England is under a 12” blanket of snow. It means hell for commuters, disruption for business and stretches our public services to breaking point. Last night where I live we had power cuts, major roads were closed and people were stranded on the nearby motorway and main roads.
Yet it is natural and it is beautiful. We we lit candles, chatted with our neighbours, offered help and hot drinks to stranded motorists and enjoyed for a few short hours of what life is like when technology fails. A silent night. This morning I walked to the local shops where everyone was friendly to one another and chatting, the snow has cast a spell of harmony over the people and landscape alike. Frank
