Far away from Stonehenge in the Andean Mountains of Bolivia, near to the shores of Lake Titicaca, are an indiginous people called the Amautas (wise men).
The Amautas constitute a special class of wise men and women similar to the Druids of Britain.
In ancient times they included illustrious philosophers, Poets, and priests who kept the oral histories of the Incas alive by imparting the knowledge of their culture, history, customs and traditions throughout the kingdom.
Considered the most highly educated and respected men in the Empire, the Amautas were largely entrusted with educating those of Royal blood, as well as other young members of conquered cultures specially chosen to administer the regions.
Englishman David Hather, a resident in Bolivia, spoke with the Amautas (who honour the midwinter sun at their great temple and World Heritage site of Tiwanaku) telling them about the Druids, and discovered great enthusiasm on their part to meet with the Druids of Britain and to see Stonehenge.
An exchange of great cultures is proposed for this June, with Druids visiting Tiwanaku and Amautas visiting Stonehenge.
Druid groups interested in taking part in welcoming the Amautas should to contact Frank.
May this be the start of ancient world cultures touching hands in friendship across the expanse of distance and time!

Druids and Amautas to meet : Article posted 27th Jan 2009

David and Frank are seeking sponsorship to meet travel costs for both Druids and Amautas.
It is a very good story opportunity for the media.

Keep checking this space as more will be added to this story as the project progresses
The proposed exchange has been welcomed by both the Dept of Culture Media and Sport in the UK and the Bolivian Government in La Paz
Update: May 15th 2009
The credit crunch has made it harder to find sponsorship for this exchange than we had anticipated. At this point in time we are uncertain if we can exchange this summer, if a scaled down or staggered exchange will be possible, or if we will need to slide our plans back into next year. We are not giving up and still hope very much to meet the Amautas.
