Pre-Mayday 2008 (Stonehenge Druids migrate)

Concerned by the apparent fading away of the Mayday traditions in our country we applied ourselves to celebrate Mayday in our countries capital at Westminster opposite Parliament itself. Our thanks to The House of Lords for granting us the use of their land, Met Police and Westminster City Council.

Taking Part:

Frank and Jim, Arch Druids Rollo and Terry (Glastonbury and Avebury), Victoria and daughters, Taloch and the dolmen, friends from CoBDO, and not forgetting our May queen Zettie.

May queen was not an easy job this year as it was raining hard and with permission for a proper Maypole denied, she had to carry the world first ever truly mobile version.

Mayday traditions are fun and family friendly, they can be celebrated in any town or village and by people of any culture or faith. They celebrate the return of life to our land after a long winter.

If you would like Druids to help you restart something in your area, please contact us.

We carry the ICENI standard to honour the the Tribe that never accepted the slavery of Rome into Westminster and dip it in salute at the feet of Boudicca’s statue opposite Big Ben. Their courage is never forgotten
